I think the Airstream tech gives very good advice. Having the inside skin firmly attached everywhere is not necessary for structural integrity of the trailer. In addition to perhaps putting a wrinkle in the skin, a highly stressed interior rivet will probably just pop out some time in the future when the trailer is being towed.

Thanks Tim.

Repair is done. Short rivet worked on one hole but not the other. Hole had been enlarged and it wouldn’t hold the rivet… I’m already at 3/16.

Managed to get it to hold by going 5/8 grip range. Doesn’t seem extra tight so hoping it’ll be fine.

While I think the tech’s advice was very good, not convinced this was the issue here. I feel like the issue may be more the connection to the rib. I couldn’t see the rib from the hole as there was reflectix between the skin and rib. Did they use too short of a rivet given that extra layer? Or something like that. Perhaps case and point: the 5/8 seemed to work on the more curved edge which arguably would have the greater distance between rib and skin.
