How do I replace this rivet?
My 2020 FC 28 popped an interior rivet that is located over the overhead storage cabinet above the sink. It is inaccessible with my rivet gun. It is also a little weird in that it's not at a panel joint or in line with any other rivets.
As you can see in the pic, the rivet gun isn't going to work.
Any thoughts on how to replace?

If you remove the cabinet door will you then have enough room for the rivet gun?

No, the top of the cabinet itself extends about an inch in front of the rivet hole.

If the rivet hole is "covered" by the face frame of the cabinet then I think you're down to a sheet metal screw and one of the low profile ratchet screwdrivers.

Do it once and do it right. I'd take down the locker and re-rivet. I guarantee you the locker mounting needs reinforcing anyway.

I had same happen above our cabinet over the dinette. With some scrap 2x2's and plywood, I made a support for the cabinet so when I removed all the mounting screws, the cabinet didn't move. Slid the cabinet out a few inches to access the rivet. Slid cabinet back in place and reattached. With the cabinet doors removed, the frame is relatively light.

Mine did the same, was at the factory repair center and asked them to replace it and they said they wouldn't, requires removing the entire cabinet and isn't hurting anything by not being there. Repair guy said it was common for those to pop because of the window awning on that side of the trailer (mine is a 30fb bunk) said if they did replace it it would likely pop again some time down the road.

I had same issue on my 23D (2017). Haven’t replaced it after 4 years and no issues.

I find I always have one rivet that keeps popping out. I gave up on replacing it. Missing one rivet out of thousands isn't going to matter. Leave it or put in a dummy as suggested above.

That rivet is not really load bearing…except to tie two pieces of aluminum together. In all likelihood, it sheared off due to the two panels working back and forth. You can just about bet that if you go to all the headache of removing the cabinet and re-riveting it’s going to recur. I’d use a SS metal screw. Very tough metal. Having been at the Service Center multiple times, I’ve never had them miss a fix. Go with the guys who have built the trailers and “graduated” to repairing them.

My 2018 26ft did the same exact thing in the same spot. Didn't bother to replace it and have had no issues in several years. I wouldn't worry about it.

I had this same rivet problem on a 2019 flying cloud 27FB. Removing the door gave no better access. I even tried using a screw but Matilda no room.

I had this same river problem on my 2019 FC 27FB . Removing the door gave no better access. I even tried to use a screw with no better results. Still not repaired.

I've been thinking about this and wonder if something could be easily made to duplicate the action of the standard rivet puller.
I'm thinking of two plates. Insert the rivet through the top plate and secure the shank of a rivet with a twist so it wouldn't pull through the bottom plate. With full threaded bolts or all-thread and a couple of nuts, you could separate the plates which would set the rivet. Height of this "rig" should be small enough to fit between the cabinet and the roof.
Anyway, food for thought.
Steve
