Do Experienced Airstreamers Recognize This ?

Do experienced RV'ers recognize this ?

The pic appears to be posting sideways. It's attached with screws not rivets to a 1963 Bambi, so it was probably added by a PO

It is in the middle of a large dent, so subject to considerable pressure

Sorry these seem to be loading sideways. Here is the questionable fitting at the top of the pic. The door stop is white in the middle, a latch that holds the door open is at the bottom. Due to the door stop, and the curve of the door, it cannot contact the questioned fitting. ( I thought the door may be banging the fitting and causing the dent)

kinda looks like an awning brace bracket. Or some accessory no longer with the trailer.

Sounds about right to me. Whatever it was for, it was mounted on bare skin, with no frame behind and resulted in inward dent from outside pressure/weight.

Are you taking these pictures with an Apple Product? They always end up sideways on my other branded stuff when someone sends me one.
Just curious.

Thanks for the comments

Yup, posting with an Applle product. Maybe I'll take the pics sideways, and see if they straighten out when posted !!!

Beats me, my '62 Bambi didn't have anything like that. Looks like a PO added something many years ago that he shouldn't have.

It looks like in might be useful in trying pulling out the dent. I wonder if whatever it was used for is the cause of the dent.

I've seen similar things used to secure the old 104 inch whip radio antennas when the rig was in transit. There would be another clip above door / window level 2 or 3 feet farther back on the hull.
