Is this the way they are designed? If not, what's the solution. The vent cover on the refrig needs to be replaced. Are they available and is there a special tool to drill out the factory round head rivets? Now if I can figure out how to remove the awning...

Those covers are available.
The sewer vent pipe covers are always open, but the gasket that's inside of that cover, only lasts 2 to 3 years, and must be replaced.
Airstream ceiling vent covers are 14" x 14".
The reefer vent covers are also available.
Welcome to Airstreaming, even though you have an Argosy.
