Yet another dinette builder...

Well it's time to break ground on my dinette project.

I have a '71 Safari with the front goucho and side fold up table. (parts soon to be available via the classifieds section )

The front has a shelf under the main window that used to serve as the couch back mount area. I had to rebuild this a while back because the orginal was busted up.

I decided to keep it and follow it down to the floor and make it a storage area by making the center of the top shelf open up. Perhaps keep bedding in there.

Also this will make the bench design a little easier as the wall curve will not be so dramatic.

Just building it in my head as I go so we will see together how it turns out

I plan on making the backs of the sets open up for pillow storage and the bottom of the seats open up for additional storage.

The bed should be around 72" x 40" which is just a little smaller than the original goucho design.

Here are a couple of pictures to keep you interested....

Looks like a good place to add a fresh water tank. An engineer friend claims a comfortable seat is the hardest thing to design. Don't use firm foam for the backs, too hard.

Tim,

This looks great! I am sure you will get lots of enjoyment out of this new dinette set.
What a great time to build stuff inside the trailer! No too hot, just right to crank out soe good work.
Best wishes!

Thanks guys.

The rains opened up all day and kept me from working on it further.

I'll post some more pics as the project comes along...

Great start~!
I'll be following this project along with the rest of the gang..
Did you ever hear the song, "Don't let the rain fall on my house"?? (it went something like that)
Look for it, you'll get a kick out of it..lol
Good luck~
