Yes another twin mattress question?
We need to replace ours since they are 1999. We have used mattress toppers which have worked great but the mattresses are now yelling let me out of here. Our needs are not crucial to it has to be this way or that way. The springs are saying you need to do something different. Any suggestions please?

Could get new ones from Aistream. We like our new ones compared to previous. Back when, we had Verlo make us custom cutting twins. We picked out the mattress and I gave them a paper template. I made them slightly wider. They were absolutely wonderful. Would do it again accept we are ok with the new ones.

We had ours custom made at a mattress manufacturer in Winnipeg MB. They have made several for us and friends over the years. We chose a spring type with only fibre and no foam. Well worth the money to get a great nights sleep. Check to see if there are any manufacturers close to you and pay them a visit. I made the template out of cardboard, and added an extra inch in width.

Have used "Original Mattress Factory" for replacement in 2 trailers. Made wider by 2" with plywood top. Made a template from Refridge box. I choose foam 2 sided mattress so I could flip them over. Better half likes them better than mattress at home. Very happy. Only took a few days to make, let me watch assembly.

Very Happy with AB Lifestyles replacement mattresses
We ordered twin replacements for a 1986 Sovereign from AB Lifestyle in South Carolina. Very happy with the result.

When we converted from Queen to twin, I contacted a local 3 man manufacturer. L&W bedding MADE my new mattresses. We have been very satisfied with the results.
They are located in Moline Illinois and Bettendorf Iowa.
A couple of other local Streamers have had them do work.
I HAVE NO CONNECTION OTHER THAN THEM DOING WORK FOR ME.

New Mattress?
I bought a new memory foam extra long twin mattress from Amazon. Just open the covering, use the old mattress as a template and cut the foam to shape. All you are cutting is one corner and a little along one edge. I used an electric knife which worked well. I put the new mattress on a 6' folding table, laid the old one on top and marked the new one fir cutting. It is not a perfect cut but the cover is put back on, the excess folded under and you can't tell it is not the original mattress. You can choose which firmness/softness you want by scrolling through the various mattresses for sale. The 8" height works perfect for the nightstand between the twin beds. Here is the link to the one I bought: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Good luck!

Ditto on buying a foam mattress
Just test the firmness to your personal satisfaction
We have bought several mattresses from a foam shop
Still good 8 - 10 years later
Cutting the foam to shape is easy
I used a sharp carving knife.
Others swear by the electric knife

Cut the foam
Tonight we’re sleeping in the Airstream. And we’re in our backyard. I just sleep better on this mattress. I went with the xl twin from ikea. It was their low end. Cut to fit. I added toppers from Target. King cut in half makes 2 XL twins.
Could not be happier.

I went with Mattress Insider in Denver. If you get the premium twin they offer, one side is firmer and the other softer, so you can swap them. Couldn't be happier!

Mattress replacements Tempurpedic
I usually do not post but thought this suggestion may help you. We had to replace our two twin mattresses in our Classic. We wanted something of an upgrade so we purchased two twin Tempurpedic mattresses. These were on sale so were definitely cheaper then goin through a custom manufacturer. You simply remove the zipped covers off of the Tempurpedic foam mattress, lay the old mattress on top. Mark the outline on both sides top and bottom with a sharpie marker to cut the shape. Then use a long bread knife to "saw" out the shape. Replace the covers and voila, new mattress. The cover will be a little bit loose on the corner that was cut but after installing the sheets you will never notice this.
Hope this helps

Google "custom mattress near me". There are several near New Orleans. They will be able to accommodate the corner curve.
Capital Bedding in Baton Rouge mentions Airstream in their front page.
Plus there will be no shipping charges added on.

We swapped out for a sleep number and haven’t looked back. We needed to change the plywood footprint.
