What did you “do” to your trailer today?
This morning, I had a functional galley. By day’s end, I had this. I have a 2 burner stove top and new square sink to install after I build a new, “no bump out” countertop (similar to Tommy Bahama design). My plan is to make a new countertop from 3/4 plywood and use Wilsonart Y0499 Denim to finish, if I can get it. We want the extra floor space the straight counter will give us and will recover lost counter space with the smaller 2 burner stove. I don’t recall ever using more than 2 burners at a time and think the extra space will be nice to have. I will update as I progress.

I think what you’re doing makes a whole lot more sense and is more practical. Looking back at the 50s and 60s Airstreams, they were much simpler. I don’t think that was a bad thing. Good luck and enjoy the modification.

Been there, done that. Flush Mount 2burner with glass top. Took out the round sink and installed rectangular sink. Squared off cabinet, NO bump out. 2doorcabinet under sink with a drawer below. It is cut for wheel well. The round part of cabinet, can be divided saving back half. I located the burner to rear of counter top as we hardly use it. Most cooking is over fire or Baby Q or micro. LOVE NEW ARANGEMENT. This was completed last year.
Cushions are now in for new covers, faux leather cushion fabric backs.

Dinette Casework
I am planning on replacing my dinette in the 28 with a desk / bar. I removed the dinette a few days ago and mocked up the layout today. I am hoping the Formica laminate is still available… I have a casework guy looking into it. This would create a proper desk from which to work and will still offer enough seating for 3. Will have a 36” cabinet underneath, and some new drawers under the TV. The only downside in my mind is the need for a couple of small chairs or barstools.

Here’s what I have so far. Still need to laminate countertop with blue laminate shown and doors with matching factory laminate. Both are from Wilsonart. I also plan to add a storage area to the wall left of stove, which will use the dead space behind pantry. There is quite a bit of available space there. Slow going, but progressing.

Ron,
Fantastic work. Airstream should pay heed! Any plans for the rear dinette?

Thank you. We currently have 2 recliners and table in place of original dinette. I changed that area in 2019 and it works much better for us. However, we are “exploring” options to further improve it. My latest thoughts are moving side lounge to that spot and possibly making a small, 2 person dinette where the lounge was. I know there are “obstacles” under lounge that will present challenges, but that’s next.

Well, I now have a hole in the wall. I am happy how it turned out, and should be useful storage for toaster, coffee maker, etc. After we try it a few trips, I might add a shelf inside for spices or something else.

I applied the countertop laminate yesterday. I added 2 storage pockets on either side of stovetop. One is visible in photo. Still more work to do, but honing in on it.
