I set about putting new covers on my gaucho mattress and wasn't happy to find that the back foam piece is 5" thick and the seat piece is 4" thick . . . making for sleeping discomfort. Furthermore, if I stretch the gaucho out full it is 48" wide. The one left by the PO's is 39" wide when fully stretched out.
Looks like I'm going to have to buy some foam.
I think I've found a source that does custom cuts and sells quality foam
http://www.foamonline.com/cube.php?c...d499388bc0eb3d
But I can't figure out how best to split the thing. 24" and 24" gives a good depth with a cushion height of 20" (assuming 4" foam). Is that how it's usually done? Or am I better off not fully extending it and doing something like 24" and 20" (which will make the back come up to the window height).
The mattress that came with the TT has a hinge sewed in. I'd think it would be better to have two separate pieces sitting like __/ with the back slotted behind the seat. . . I like to be able to turn a mattress for even wear.
How are other people's gaucho's set up? Any advice much appreciated.
