Vintage accessories....anyone?

Are there any other vintage Airstream owners that furnished accessories for the trailer by buying period correct items? Maybe my wife and I are odd, but we have purchased many period correct or older accessories, like flatware and silverware, that might have been used during the year our trailer was made. I won't go into the list of the many, many items we have included with our trailer, but just wanted to know if there are any others out there that must own "made in the U.S.A." products.

I just won a couple of vintage bikes on ebay, both 1973, that are in mint condition and we are so excited about it...

Thumbs up "If it's worth doing, it's worth over doing!"

Yep, I'm "in". We have all sorts of vintage and retro items for both our vintage trailers: Melmac, Betty Crocker coupon silverware, cookware, radio, table lights, brownie camera, tablecloths, vintage frame awning (real for one, new for the other), chenille bedspreads, Leg-o-Matic Chairs, porch light, cooler, thermos, aluminum tumblers, etc. Sometimes we even dress to match the era of our trailer during rally open houses..."If it's worth doing, it's worth over doing!"

Of course we like living in the past:
It was a much better place.

It makes outfitting your trailer, and camping so much more fun. Love the bikes!! There is another thread about this! You should look it up.

Great Bikes!! I just restored and sold a 67 Schwinn Deluxe 3 Speed on eBay. It was the nicest riding old bike I've ever been on. As far as collecting period bikes: I built a early 70's Murray "Airstream" bike for me to ride around the camp ground.

Wife has all the 70's plastic plates (some special name for it which I do not know) and some stamped aluminium serving pieces. She has plans for 70's type fabrics for the interior as well.

Absolutely! The best part of having a vintage trailer is keeping her looking as original as possible, includiing the accessories! Ours even has the original 8-track... now if I could only scrounge up some tapes.

Nice bikes!!
Before we even had Betty home, we were looking for accessories from the early '70's. The mother-in-laws house is a virtual time capsule for that period, so she says to take whatever we want. I started with a set of four aluminum and canvas lawn chairs.
The most fun thing we found was a picture of Sheryl in an orange dress and go go boots, and one of me with curly hair and a full beard, both dated 1973. We plan to frame and mount them in the trailer just for fun.
So much fun, so little time....

You can still find them in used retail stores. Goodwill, St. Vincient dePauls, thrift stores. Even in antique stores.. just not the real real antique stores, more like the one that have booths space to rent to people.
We do run across them as we travel around the U.S.
Good Luck!

1962 here, vintage melmac, serving ware, percolator, radio, fan, webbed lawn chairs, NOS vintage curtain fabric and we have about 6 months worth of Arizona Highways Magazine from 1962.... keeping it real... love the bikes.. ours are new folding bikes, but look like vintage cruisers.

Melmac all the way

Yup, me too....melmac plates and plastic ends on the silverware. Just found some plastic Ice tea glasses that have the woven inserts in them. Can't afford the chrome paper towel holder yet from Vintage Parts, just still lusting over it!

Wink Vintage 1977

My dad gave me a disco ball...

it's bigger than a beach ball!

Hanging it under the awning is, uh, cumbersome.
But it's the thought that counts, right?

Friends with a plan

I met mopariac and his wife not too long ago. Wish we had more time but they are on a mission that many will envy. They indeed have period pots, games, utinsils, and much more. They have a very nice A/S and are the perfect couple to care for it. Good luck guys, keep in touch

My grandmother's 1948 Electrolux XXX canister vacuum looks cool in the trailer.

Not vintage, found some cool turquoise dinner plates at Wally World, matches the oven.

I just picked up an old aluminum cooler. I think it's from the 60's but I'm not sure. Yes, I also have this addiction to aluminum now that we have have our Airstream...tumblers, pitchers, platters. Love it, fun looking for stuff.
