Storage under bed

I've decided to remove my center gaucho and build a platform style bed with storage underneath. Would love some feedback from those who have either converted theirs to a "lift up" style to access storage beneath or have a "captains style" with drawers. What do you like/dislike about the style? What would you do differently?

Attaching pictures of the floor plan I'm shooting for and then the 3, general styles I'm considering.

Thanks in advance,
Funkee

Navy rack aka Coffin Locker

I've recently been thinking of this as we're doing a complete shell off restoration. There was originally a double bed, but we're going to make two twins to replace it.

When I was in the Navy we had these racks (beds) that were affectionately called "Coffin Lockers" which was very much like the second picture with different compartments in it.

I think I'm going to go with the coffin locker which will allow more room under the bed and it will be a couple inches taller.

We did the lift up style of storage access under our bed. Advantage is you can store longer things under it. Disadvantage is that it is heavy to lift up with our current mattress. We put heavy duty gas struts on in order to be able to lift it up. Ours is split in half down the outside center part of the bed (top to bottom) to separate inside storage from outside hatch storage.
We thought about drawers but didn't have room to pull them out fully in our layout.

Holy crap - is that three bunk beds? Tight spaces - reminds me of the sleep station on the space shuttle....

Nice storage though.
