Side splash guard?

We have the dark wood veneer in our AS and we're getting grease splash stains next to the stove. They are proving very hard to clean off and I'm wondering if anyone has tried putting a piece of aluminum or SS next to it as a "side splash"? The difficulty would be the pull out pantry also needs some protection, so the piece would have to curve around the pantry to look correct.
