Do they not go into the closet or do the drawers not open once the frame is in the closet? We have a 2014 30FC. We had to remove the closet door and hinges to get the shelf frame into the closet but after it was in the drawers open fine around the hinges.

The frame is a bit too long to fit front to back. When it's deployed at the 14" width, the frame wants to be exactly where the hinges attach to the wall. Here are some pics.
I'm hoping I'm not seeing something, but even if I scribe a quarter inch out of the back shelf, I don't think it'll fit.

Sorry this isn't going to work for you. Our closet must be bigger. Or our shelf in the back of the closet is smaller. You might be able to make the lip on that back shelf smaller and it might fit.

Yup, darn. It looks like you have more clearance. The space-wasting shelf at the back of my closet is 7.5" deep. I should have given that measurement yesterday! I'm guessing your shelf is not as deep back there.
Thanks so much for your help here though.

I just received a suggestion from Howard here on the forums to use the 17.25" deep "cabinet depth" frame with the 21" drawers. They can stick out without harm. So I'll try that before returning everything!

Adding okea pull out drawers to pantry

Ours work fine but the hinges do have to be changed to the appropriate hinge to allow the door to open back further. On the pantry door, the door now has a gap on the closure side but it still works fine. While travelling, we use a bungee cord wrapped around the door handle to make certain the door does not fly open which it did do even before we made the change. Works well for us & i love to be able to access the items in the back easily.

I could take a couple photos & try to post. TITLE SHOULD BE IKEA

This looks like the best solution for me. I like that you can see thru them.
What did you use to attach it on the sides?

Our useles shelf is the same size. Its good for storing TP and paper towels behind the drawers.

We used the 17" ×14 " frame. It fits but its close. We used the 17" drawers.
Also used plastic plumbing straping to keep it from bouncing around. I used wood screws in to the closet floor in the corner s and one on the top rail into the wall. You can see them in the wife's (bunni) post.
We hot glued the plastic drawer stop posts into the holes so they did not pop out.
The shelves work great.

The runners that hold the shelves are attached to the whiteboard with glue and screws as described in the detailed instructions list. Then, pressure from the wire shelving holds the whiteboard in place against the sides of the closet. Therefore, by removing the shelves, the whiteboard releases and can be removed from the closet. So they are not really "attached" on the sides.

I think I saw where someone took the closet closest to the kitchen and made it a pantry. If I were doing it I would get some aluminum and rivet supports. Then put drawer glides to the those. Them use whatever you want for your shelf, keeping it light and with a lip to prevent things from rolling out.

The shelving unit is not permanently installed. It was built in the garage then reassembled in the closet. We used no nails screws or glue. We did remove the hanging rod but kept it to be reinstalled should we want to return the closet to its original style. This Unit utilizes every bit of space front and back side to side. The actual shelves are deep enough to hold two stacks of clothing. We typically leave our winter clothing in toward the back with summer in the front. It's easy to switch depending on the time of year we're traveling. We tried using the fabric type shelves that hang off the curtain rod, plastic premanufactured drawer bins, and the traditional hanger on a clothes rod. None worked for us as we are accustomed to 5-6 weeks on the road. Our 20' Bambi has been ideal for long trips and with the shelving system we have no problem having enough clothes for a six week trip.

15 Minute Shelving Solution

Just thought I would mention that we were able to install Elfa shelf baskets from The Container Store in about 15 minutes. We used the following:
  • One 77 3/4" Mounted Standard (cut into two 32" lengths)
  • Three Elfa Shelf Baskets
  • Three 16" Elfa Shelf Basket Dividers
  • Six 16" Elfa Ventilated/Decor Shelf Brackets

My latest idea to avoid mounting the Elfa shelving unit to a wall is to use a "tension rod" (Normally used for curtains) from side to side on the closet floor. Then attach the rear crossmember of the Elfa frame to that with cable ties. I'll have rain gear to the right and hanging stuff to the left. If it still bounces too much, I'll add another to the front.
I think the hanging clothes keep it positioned.

The Container Store Elfa shelves fit almost exactly in our FC25. I did flip the door so it opens into the kitchen instead of the bedroom.

You CAN put a little microwave on a pullout on the top shelf as seen in the picture. Since then we’ve switched to a cabinet i built under the TV for that.
