Reupholstering Couch

Decision made. Do not have the time nor energy to relocate batteries and converter and replace couch with recliners. Will be perfectly happy with the couch we have if we can make it more comfortable and more attractive (29 year old floral pattern).
So, wife has some experience in reupholstering and we are going that route.
I have read here of others being happy with their re-do, so need to just pick some brain power on the foams used.

If you have undertaken this project (or had it done), please share the specific foam(s) used - thickness, density, ILD rating, etc.

And, were you pleased with your foam or wish you had made a different choice?

My advance gratitude!!

Sofa

I reupholster our sofa using supplies from diy upholstery in Mississippi. I had ordered from before always been happy. I will try to attach photo.
The seat cushions
The seat cushions are two types of foam glued together. 2 inches density 2.4 med firm 40 pounds on top I glued 4 inches 2.4 density Med 33 pounds. They I wrap with Dacron wrap. You can get the cushions already wrapped but in this case I wanted a firm base.
The back cushions
Are 4 inches density 1.9 soft firmness. I wrapped each cushion with cotton batting because I wanted almost down feel so I did not use Dacron wrap.
I ordered all supplies from diy including foam adhesive, batting and wrap. The original had removable arms and I ordered bolster cushions and shaped them with electric knife. Density 2.4 med 33 pounds. I also used their hog rings. Hope this helps

OR you might look st Costco got a faux leather sofa that fit right through the door and ( with a little hack saw surgery to the frame ) fit right over the batteries and converter. Bonus— one more storage bin fit under the new sofa. Cost was under $300 and installation took less than 2 hours...

Hello woodfox45, We are looking at an '84 Excella and the sofa bed needs to be reupholstered. Wondering how much it cost you. Thanks.

Cost

The cost was 400.00. Most of the cost was foam. I bought the chenille fabric when Hancocks was going out of business. Mood fabrics and DIY upholstery have good quality chenille at good prices. You can buy cheaper foam at Joanne fabrics but it is less dense and will not be comfortable long term. I had no labor costs. I would expect to pay 500-1000 for materials.
