Hi Y'all- I am trying to slowly work my way through our '72 Sovereign. My current task is to remove the kitchen counter, replace the cook top (3-burner I think) and re-plumb the sinks. Since the tambour doors are such a drag (npi) we are considering replacing the entire kitchen unit with cabinets. We would like ideas on any and all of these areas, but first thing is to get the old cabinet out. As a newbie to this list, I have read posts until I have read way too much: information overdose, I think. My guess is to start taking screws out until it comes free. Any hidden tricks to look out for ?
Thanks for any ideas and here we go.....
no triacks after you disconnect the propane and water. just take out a zillion screws (all longer than need be). You'll a couple hidden screws when you think there can be any more, just tug gently and they will reveal their location.
I put in a completely new cabinet with drawers. I may ge some photos posted tonight.
IIRC, there were several hard to get at screws behind the sink. I remember specifically that I had to remove the sink first to get the counter top out. I think there were a couple of screws from the center bedroom wall into the cabinets.
Like Zepp said, a lot of screws to remove, but it is mostly a time thing, not a difficulty thing.
