Nylon Bathroom Mirror Cabinet Latch part

Our '88 Excella used a pair of white nylon flexible latch parts to hold the overhead (hanging) mirror and medicine cabinet mirror in place.. These were supplied by Jensen, who made the medicine cabinets. The downside is that after 30 years, they get brittle and break if you hit them accidentally with your arm... A few months of searching the internet and finally contacting Jensen confirmed that the part, and its newer replacement (slotted for rivets instead of drilled holes..) was in fact no longer offered, and thus officially declared to be "unobtanium"

Rather than resort to duct tape, I bit bullet and paid for design and fab of 3D printed nylon replacement, which works brilliantly.. See pictures.. If anyone else has mid-80's to early 90's trailer in need of these latch parts, PM me.. They aren't cheap, but they work perfectly!

How fascinating. Currently, the catch in our 1995 Excella is working great. Of course, I had to reply because next week it probably won’t. How much was the replacement fabrication?

Closing out the thread..

Just wanted to provide an update on these 3D printed mirror latches.. After more than a $100 design setup charge, unit cost was over $25 (excluding any shipping) and nobody seemed to want to spend that much.. We've sold our '88 Excella trailer, and no longer have any of the latches to sell. I was willing to provide link to website of 3D printing shop in SF Bay Area, but am no longer in the business of trying to supply the latches..

I sure wish I saw this thread sooner. My latch broke and I need one for my 88 Excella. Do you still have the contact information for the 3D printer company you purchased them from?

We have a 1990 Excella and the same latch just broke. Did you find a suitable replacement latch? Thank you, Carl

I ordered one of the latches I linked to earlier from eBay. It's slightly different, but appears to work.
