Need Shower Door "Locking" Knob for 2004 Classic

I am the proud new owner of a 2004 30' Classic with a slide-out. Since our purchase, I have been looking for a knob/lock for the shower door (gold anodized aluminum frame and door) which was loose and broken. I think this knob is supposed to latch inside the shower and prevents the door from opening during travel. I can't find one anywhere. We have been using duct tape as a standby, but would like the real thing.
Any suggestions about where to find one. I think it was brown bakelite plastic or similar.
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried any Airstream dealers?

The part number is 381403. I saw it on ebay but it said the listing had ended. The date was June 4, 2015. It was $12 with $2.50 shipping. It may be worth a try to pursue this a little further. Good luck.

Airstream changed the shower door lock mechanism for 2007. Prior to 2007 they used a different latch p/n 381403 which they no longer make and are very hard to find. If you can't find one, you may need to be fabricate something (other than duct tape!). I'm not sure what the difference between the old latch and new latch are, or if you can modify the new one to fit, but I do know it's not a direct replacement.

We have 2004 Classic and had same problem. Never found solution. In the end bought new shower door...also to get rid of gold metal.

Shower door latch

I fabricated a latch from a 1" aluminum strap (Lowes). I will try to take photo and post it here.

It is about 9" long and hangs over the door with the tail end in the shower. The important part is bent over the top of the door and the right margin is bent in to fit between the door and jam.

It needs to be carefully bent so it does not work up and fall into the shower.

You will never find it. Make your own. ACE Hardware has radio knobs that will work for the outside and you make the rest. Also note: there is a slider forum somewhere on this site.
