Microwave drawer not latching

2024 27' FC RT - running down a bumpy road, our microwave drawer became unlatched, and our microwave dropped to the floor. Now we want to improve the latching ability of the drawer. Any suggestions?

Shim the frame catch.

Oh boy, not what you want to find when you open the door to your trailer!

This is a common problem when the gap between the push button latch and the frame mounted catch is too great. It might latch when stationary but bouncing up and down will cause it to disengage.

Assuming the push button latch is still working correctly, the metal catch (angled part mounted to the cabinet frame) can be shimmed down so the push button latch engages more.

A friend with a 27’ had the same issue and shimming the catch down did the trick for him.

I found the metal catch was loose on our 2022 GT, now I catch often. The latch underneath the drawer can be upgraded from a 5 lb to a 10 lb pull force latch.

Mine has a push button and I believe it's adjustable. Mine doesn't spring open. However, I was concerned so I measured the distance from the drawer to the opposite wall and it was about 26". I cut a dowel and added a white rubber crutch tip at each end. I just slid it into position before leaving and removed it upon arrival. Yours may vary. Also handy for propping the fridge door open when I'm gone.
