Looking for discontinued latch-bath cabinet
Hello, I am trying to track down this white plastic latch from the overhead bathroom cabinet in an 89 Excella 25’. Identical latch is used on the medicine cabinet.
AS said the part is discontinued and did not provide a part number.
If available, I would order 2.
Thanx for your help,
Bill

How did these attach. Looking at the Camping World catalog and there are a couple of things there that might work for you.

Hi Gary, there is another small tab that is broken off (see top of pic on right) that was riveted to the bottop of the over head bath cabinet.
Can you point me to the CW page?
Thanx, Bill

Bill,
Sorry - I was looking at two catalogs at once. Try here - key word "latch" or "cabinet" - note there are 4 pages when you use latch as a key word.

Thanx Gary, yes some of those are close...not an exact match. All the feedback I am getting from AS, and other vendors, is that this latch was discontinued some time ago...
Amazing, you can purchase almost an entire camper (body panels, etc) from 40 years ago...but I can't find this little latch!
Thanx, Bill

I would give Oasis RV in Tucson a call. They have alot of parts that are no longer in production.

Bill,
Been looking around locally for you. We have an ex A/S dealer who still has some old parts. Said he still has something called an "overhead locker latch" that would fit this type of lift up door. I can swing by some time later in the week if you think it might be close.

Thanx Gary, that would be great...maybe you could show him the picture?
Do they have an email address?
Sure would appreciate it, trying to keep everything original!
Thanx again, Bill

Sorry - I struck out. Tried 3 dealers including the ex A/S dealer, none had it. If it means anything to you - 2 of the 3 recommended you try this one if you can't find your original. Good luck in your search.

Time to revive an old thread here. In our '92 we lost the latch on our medicine cabinet (on the wall behind the toilet). We used a bungee cord for many years. I checked directly with Airstream when their parts people were in Salem for the International. No dice they said. They don't make, nor can they get, that part anymore. I tried Andy at Inland RV and was told the same thing. Oh well, the bungee worked pretty good.
About 2 months ago, we lost the latch for the mirror above the sink. This was a bit more problematic because the mirror sits at an angle so you don't hit your head. Without the latch, it just hung straight down. Another bungee but it was not convenient.
The hunt for a replacement was on. I don't know what made me look in the child proof device section at OSH but I found something. We use a child proof cabinet latch to keep our kitchen cabinets closed so maybe it was Freudian.
The pics are attached. This latch relies upon adhesive to keep them attached. We had an issue after about 3 weeks as the flat part did not stay stuck. I still used the bungees until I am happy with it. The adhesive still seemed very tight on the glass of the mirrors. However the other mounting location was very rough and probably a bit dirty. So what other attachment method does an Airstream owner use? Rivets! Yes, I riveted the flat parts to the rough areas.
I am very pleased and no longer use the bungees. I hope this can help someone out.
