Kitchen Counter Slope (?)

I removed the original kitchen counter from my 83 Excella.

While doing some measuring for the new top, I noticed that the long piece of aluminum angle that is attached to the outside wall and supports the back of the counter is 1.5" higher than the cabinetry the countertop sits on. Everything looks original and I see no signs of prior modifications. This means that the counter slopes down inward. Is it supposed to be like this? Maybe so water on the counter top could flow towards the sink and floor instead of the wall?

I assume there must be a reason for this - no way the factory could have been that far off.

It's easy enough to fix, but I'm wondering if it's supposed to be that way.

How about, the assembler was putting in material to meet with the other material; level and plumb was secondary to making things fit together.

On my 1986 trailer I found most walls and cabinets were not square or plumb. All the parts fit together and looked OK, but when I installed a new floor that was square the errors were pretty easy to see.

Well I have to say that even by RV manufacturing "standards", this was pretty wacky. But it does explain why my original countertop was warped along its length.

I moved the bracket down this morning and the new butcherblock oak top is going in as soon as I finish with a few more coats of oil.

Read you post and I wondered how you reattached the counter brace to interior wall? I was interested in seeing if stainless steel screws and if any special precautions needed to avoid aluminum corrosion? thanks.
