Install recliners - remove couch

Any experience in installing 2 recliners and removing the couch. If so, what type of recliner did you purchase? We will not have any sleepovers so the couch is not necessary and we feel the recliners is a better fit for us. Thanks for your comments.

One of our forum members, Bob Thompson, removed the gaucho from the front of his 25' Classic, cut the 2 front battery boxes to the interior edge, fabricated a dual battery box placed in the center front like an end table then placed 2 Euro type recliner chairs on each side of the table. It looked really sharp and very functional.

Recliners

If you go too my photo's, on page 2, you will see my recliner set up in my 06 Safari FB.
Euro recliners came from RV salvage in Elkhart, IN.

Recliners for 25' Safari

We removed our couch and replaced it with two euro style recliners. Easy to do and the chairs are sooooo much more comfortable. You do lose some storage space under the couch and in the arms but worth the comfort after a long day of driving.

The chair seat height (17") is ideal for the fold out dining table and very comfortable.

He's our solution referenced above. We've had it for a few years now and are still very pleased. You can see more photos under Members Photos and Bob Thompson

I need to ask this questions. I was going to remove my gaucho, I figured I'd have to cut it up to get it out the door. But how did you get those recliners in through the door? Thanks

I unfolded my sofa bed to the bed position, lifted it sideways and walked right out the door. The medium/small size Euro style recliners fit through the door very easily and they are not that heavy.

my couch came apart easily so I did not sacrifice it. The La Z boys come apart for shipping. The back comes off, so two pieces fit through the door nicely.

Queen Bed for Recliner Exchange

Has anyone removed the queen bed from a 2009 23FB Flying Cloud and inserted two recliners? Any complications to removing the bed frame?

Removed L shaped sofa and installed two leather recliners purchased from Art Van Furniture (a chain in Michigan). About $600 each. Made a wood cabinet for the external door storage. And another wood cabinet to cover electrical. I moved the inverter to this new cabinet as well. Flying Cloud 30 Rear Bedroom. Very comfortable now but gave up the bed and some of the storage. Well worth it for us. Click image for larger version

I do not have time to post pictures but it is the best mod to our trailer we have done. Most recliners come apart for shipping and I had no problems getting them in the trailer.

A recliner mod has given us the comfort when on the road seven months a year as our living room at home.

We used stock Airstream cabinetry and recliners except for a cabinet we had built by them of factory materials to cover the converter.
