How to repair hole in 72 bathroom sink...

The PO of our new to us 72 Airstream 'repaired' what appears to have been a crack or hole in the sink with a giant yellowing glob of goo at som point.

Question is whether anyone has a hot tip on working with the sink material. I suspect I can make it look better but thought I'd feel everyone out for their experience.

I Got lucky and another owner had the exact same sink in better condition and got a replacement. But now a hole has appeared in the shower pan so looks like I'll need to go the repair direction. Unfortunately the 70's plastic doesn't hold up like the aluminum does.

Excellent, that was just the kind of info I was looking for! I followed the thread you mentioned and will try to do the repair described there.

Of course, if anyone has a good sink/top for sale...

Let us know how it goes. These type of repairs are something that requires carefully study before going into surgery.

The PO of our Sovereign repaired some cracks with what looks to be some kind of fiberglass repair. It doesn't look all that great, but it seems to have worked. I think if he had been a bit more meticulous it might have looked fairly decent.

FWIW I found an exact replacement for the sink in my 78 Excella at Mobile Mart.
It was cheap enough to make any repair thoughts out of the question.

Hot tip on the replacement, I'll see what I can find.

If that's not possible, I'll probably remove the current repair, fiberglass from underneath and then try to fashion a nice repair based on the tips given here.

Once I get around to it, I'll post results.

Alas, on further inspection the sink is toast. Very brittle and very damaged. Sigh. Time to come up with a replacement rather than at repair...

Let us know what you come up with. Though I came up with a replacement it's still pretty old and plastic is brittle. My last trip out the shower pan came up with a hole in it.
