Getting Close! 1967 Globe Trotter Updates

Thought I would share our recent updates. Replaced all electrical and plumbing. new black tank. New water heater and converter. New fridge and 2 burner cooktop. We found VCT tiles for the floor at a salvage warehouse for $10...yes $10...it was a breeze to install. Then built new bathroom closet and walls. We saved the upper cabinets and I put a fresh coat of stain on them and covered the doors with fabric. We installed formica on the new countertops and also used it as a backsplash. Husband wanted to install tile, but I was a bit nervous about it coming loose while bouncing down the road. The formica worked great as a backsplash and so easy to install! We used it for the shower wall, too.

We drove ourselves crazy trying to figure out how to build a new gaucho or dinette. I stumbled across a small sofa sleeper at Ikea and it fits perfectly! We need to enclose the fresh water tank with shelving and will store some tv trays back there. We usually sit outside to eat, so having a dinette was not imperative.

We still need to finish up re-installing the bathroom and make some cabinet doors. Hubby will then get the new axle installed. While he's doing that, I will try to sew a rope and pole awning. Wish me luck.

We are so close to actually being able to USE the Airstream! First trip out will be Estes Park. I. Just. Cannot. Wait.

I know some of the updates will drive the purists crazy, but it's our baby and we LOVE what we've done : )

I think it looks great, like the color scheme and that's certainly a steal on the VCT tiles. More importantly it works for you! Go enjoy it

Thanks, Reinergirl! I wish we could just go camping already and worry about the axle and cabinet doors later.....probably not a good idea though! We spend every evening out in the camper with the pups, but it is just not the same as actually CAMPING. Patience, patience......
