Dinette/Bed

Another question for this section is how to build a dinette that will convert into a bed. Have seen this done on the Vintage a/s site and wanted to see if anyone knows of how this can be done or are there plans somewhere for this project. Our AS is a 58 Overlander with the couch up front and the original water tank underneath. The plan is to have the water tank in the same place and build in the dinette with a table that will collapse to form a bed. Any ideas? Thanks to those that respond!

I did a similar project - Gaucho-to-a-Dinette/Bed. It wasn't hard at all...if you have access to the proper tools. I have step-by-step photos in my Photo Gallery and on our website. There really aren't any plans, beacuse each year & model are slightly different. For that matter, each trailer is different as well...even left to right. All the pieces need to be scribed to your individual trailer's proportions. But like I said, it's not tough...I did it myself...with the use of a friends workshop!

Shari,

Looking at your pic's, it appears all the cushions are loose (bottom/backs are not put together with a seam), then a two filler cushions are added up near the window. I take it this is a full size bed in the end?

Exactly. The two small triangle cushions fit under the seat of the dinette in one of the bins.

Actually, no. It ends up being an over-sized (trailer-wise) twin. Big enough for two pre-teen kids or one adult. It is only a GlobeTrotter after all! I think it's 37" wide...the door placement won't allow it to be anywider w/o a sideout. We don't have kids and usually follow the adage "6 for cocktails, 4 for dinner & 2 for the night".
