Countertop trim

I'm replacing the formica in my '65 Safari and would like to convert from a formica edge on the counter to an aluminum or stainless band. I've seen this type of trim before but can't find any for sale anywhere. I've checked with all my local countertop providers, hardware stores, specialty shops, metal shops, glass shops, every concievable web site and can only find a polished molding in Atlanta that comes in 12' lengths and is very expensive to ship because of length, plus it's polished and I'd like a brushed aluminum. Does anyone know where to get this molding??

I bought a 25' roll of aluminum flashing (used for roofing) at home depot. It comes in 16" width. Then I cut it down to 1 1/2" on a band saw to use as trim around an area above my curtains ( I needed around 20' and didn't want a seam).

I don't remember how much but it wasn't expensive. I still have a 25' roll 14 1/2" wide leftover. Maybe this would work for you too.

Need something heavier

Thanks for the thought, but it needs to be something thicker and will also need to have about a 3/16 lip on top to overlap the formica. Good idea, though.

AS is now using that trim on the new Ocean Breeze models, maybe a dealer can sell you some, or point you towards the OEM.Jon

You could look at Brunner aluminum extrusions. They wil cut the 12 ft lengths to more easily shipped lengths, and shipping is not too expensive.

See if there is something you like.

T extrusion

My friend DavidsonOverlander has done beautiful counter trim using a T extrusion.

This is the professional way to do the job.

PM him. I think he will send you photos and information.
