Counter Top Upgrade
My wife and I started a rather extensive interior "re-do" in July. Added, replaced or re-built major systems (water heater, solar, batteries, subfloor and flooring, plumbing, yadda yadda yadda).
Today, we finalized the kitchen and bath countertops. C-in-CHOMEFLT selected a material from Lowe's called, LG's Mac acrylic solid surface. The material is 1/2" thick and about the same weight as the 3/4" melamine laminated particle board used as a temporary top so we could use the rig over the summer.
LG's material is durable, relatively lightweight, and looks cool.

Very nice! Does the material come in different colors? Did you have it precut by Lowes? Where did you find the galley sink? I'm currently redoing the galley in our "74" Tradewind and like the looks of your galley sink and faucet. Thanks!

Hi Anthony!
Long time since our last New Year's Eve - 2009!
Looks like you've accumulated a few more rigs since then.
We'll be at Picacho - planning to arrive on the 27th. See you then brother!
Cheers!

Hi Bob:
Colors are endless - Margaret chose the color of the material which brings in silver, black, brown, and gray tones mixing well with other colors in the rig.
We had Lowe's pre-cut the pieces then we used the temporary tops as our template. Pretty straight forward. The galley sink was purchased online - I'll have to look up the vendor.
Thanks for looking.

I've got Corian in my Airstream motorhome, and it seems like this stuff weighs literrally a TON! I really like the appearance of this surface LOTS better. Another stop after work tomorrow I see....
Thanks for a great post. Derek

Depending on the material you select - I found prices ranging between $55 to $75/sq foot.
Another view...

Hi Bob,
Just wanted to get back to you - the kitchen Galley Sink was purchased by my wife online from IKEA (she's the designer - I just put the stuff together). They are available in either left or right styles... The bathroom sink is a 7" stainless model from a marine supplier, FYI.
Cheers,
Art
