CAD generated printable templates for the interior curves?

Hello, I've been imagineering a storypole fixture for taking measurements of the curves of the end caps, so as to draw templates manually. It has occurred to me that it should be possible to enter the data into a CAD program so as to generate a printable template for cutting sheet materials. The template could printed at a commercial shop with a widebody drafting printer.

Has anybody done this?

There is a member of the European Unit of the WBCCI that has done extensive CAD work on Airstreams for making very detailed plastic printed models inside and out. You can find him on their Facebook page.
