Cabinet Shelves

The last three days I have been working on some shelves for the Airstream.I made some for my previous one but used a cheaper grade of wood at the time.
This time I used Birch with red oak trim.What I am wondering is,Would it be better to use quarter round instead of the 1/2'' shelf braces or just leave it like it should.Also I am wanting to stain the oak trim.I have been told that minwax is very good and easy to used but would it be best to use a rag and rub it in or use a certain type of brush.
Another thing is when I went to lowes I had seen that they have this edging for the wood and it look like if it were stained mabey I could almost match the laminate they used. Any help is great appreciated.Thanks

Uhh, the pics didn't make it through with your post.
Why not use 1/2" half round trim? It would give the edges a "countertop look".

I hate when that happens... I still like my idea of the half round trim. Can you get any where you are?

1: Do they work as you intended?
2: Are you happy with how they look?

Oh I know...But I do like opinions.I was thinking the quarter round with a 45 degree cut on both ends would look really nice after I had done these.Now that I look at them more I keep seeing bandades popping up on my knuckles when I put something into the bottom of the cabinet.

All the more reason for the half rounds, less corners.

Yes I do like them but I would like them to be a great as I can possibly get them.
Also they work really good because a lot of the shelves hold clothes more than anything else.I hated stacking clothes up on each other and having to dig through them.

Should I stain the outer red oak trim?Should I also do the same for the shelf itself?I am just wanting to know if it is ok to leave them as is or do they fade over time or could I put an oil on them to keep the color in them.Do not really know that much about these kind things.Thanks.
