Base for dinette/bed

I'm about to embark on a remodel of the dinette area in our 1979 TradeWind. The dinette converts to a bed by folding the table led under it, then pivoting tabletop down to bed height. I am considering using an adjustable table base and doing away with pivoting system. I see photos of this but am looking for first-hand experience. Some of these bases require an extension of about 4" below floor surface, which doesn't strike me as a big problem -- just avoid the frame. Thoughts?
