Attaching Kitchen Counter to Wall?

After many years my kitchen counter pulled away from the wall. To re-attach I pulled the oven/range and the sink and at that point decided to do an update and now have a new countertop, stove top, sink and faucet. Funny how one thing leads to another!

Now I'm ready to re attach and need some advice. The original was attached by two screws directly into the inside wall. The screws look to be regular wood screws and somewhat on the delicate side. I'm considering self tapping screws but obviously don't want to make a mistake. Suggestions???

My trailer which is much older than yours had a piece of angle aluminum attached to the wall with several 3/16" diameter rivets. They had all come out and the counter was pulling away from the wall. I would say you need more than two screws. I put rivets back in the original holes and added a few more. There were several wood screws holding the counter to the L-Bracket. There were also screws some hidden in the partition at the end of the counter.

On my remodels I have used olympic rivets. I just feel better using them.

I have a 1999 as well. When reinstalling the remodeled countertop, I used the same ~2.5 inch long brown headed screws that held the original countertop in place. Its in there solid and is not moving.

Mine was like Perry's. Had a piece of aluminum angle. I replaced everything else and kept the angle as the method of attachment. Very strong and light.
