85 original couch

We are killing ourselves trying to sleep on the original fold down couch in the living room of my 1985 31' Excella. Most uncomfortable bed ever with a big hard ridge 2/3 of the way cross the bed. Thinking about a good quality futon. Any recommendations for brands and installation?

We had some over night guests this summer and let them have our bedroom [30 ft Classic rear Queen], and we slept on the front sofa, we had a older mattress topper from home and it was a game changer... now storing it during the day was a bit of a pain but we folded it in a garbage bag and stored it in the pick up truck back seat during the day[it could go in the shower too I guess]
In our previous SOB rig it had a fold out bed with a Air mattress in there, very comfy for short term guest, not something i would want to do every night thou. Inflating, bedding, and then repeat in the morning.... the mattress topper was a better solution...

Thanks for that information. We plan to arrange things so we can leave the bed down in the living room so I think that might work fine for us.
