Modifications to our 25' International

Thanks to timeless travel trailers…

We recently engaged Timeless here in the Denver area to modify our 2008 International 25SS to better suite our needs. We bought the trailer new 4 years ago and have been looking to make these changes for quite some time after traveling in it extensively – finally pulled the trigger…

The 25SS is a really nice floor plan that creates for a “six sleeper” with a bed in the back, couch/bed in the front and dinette that folds down to make a 3rd bed. We are 4 in our family – with 2 children ages 5 & 8 who each like to have their own bed.

Unfortunately the dinette did not make for great sleeping arrangements for children or adults – it was short (sleeping area was squeezed between 2 benches), relatively unstable (biggest issue) and was not flat when the bench cushions were laid down (kind of a roller coaster - uncomfortable). We decided to replace one of the benches with a custom extension to the couch that extends the seating area, providers for more storage and a much more stable and longer sleeping area. We can truly sleep six now.

We are also starting to boondock more so we installed 310 watts of solar charging (~17 amps), new lifelines and full led lighting completed the upgrade,

Complete list of enhancements that timeless performed included:
  • New seating / dinette area bench with underneath storage and aluminum wrap
  • New (wider) dinette table top custom laminated to match the Airstream “Wenge” interior
  • Custom cushions that are an exact fit for the bed – flat surface now with no gaps – nice rubber backing so they don’t slip (note that Timeless had an incredible selection of materials to choose from)
  • 2x GoPower! 155 watt solar panel installation & wireing
  • GoPower! 30 AMP Charge controller with float
  • Installed 2 X New lifeline AGM batteries
  • Installed new 3-stage Progressive Dynamics 55w converter with float function to replace the standard Parallax 7355
  • Installed Victorianox edition swiss alps vinyl decal on the front windows
  • Removed caulk and Re-Sealed all enclosures on the roof for good measure / preventative maintenance

Additional modifications that I performed:
  • Swapped out LED lighting throughout the interior (pucks and cabinets / bathroom + exterior door lamp)
  • Cut down the old wenge tabletop and made shelves to convert a wardrobe closet into a (far more useable) panty
  • Bought the batteries and converter online to save some $$

I did consider adding another battery and a converter to the trailer (we enjoy family movie night occasionally). I am glad I didn’t spend the money – In case you are wondering yes you can watch TV for a couple hours easy using a cheap 400watt converter from best buy. I think I paid maybe $70 bucks for it and it plugs into a 12v outlet in the same location as where the TV plugs into 110v. How convenient.

Attached are some pictures. Overall very happy with the work performed by timeless –it's a far more usable space now – on or off the grid. We spend about 30 or 40 nights a year out and about– we love our airstream.

PS – Tow vehicle – we recently changed out our Nissan Armada with a 2012 infinity QX. GVW for the trailer is 7000lbs and the QX is rated to pull up-to 8500. We use an equalizer hitch. For what it is worth it does an outstanding job towing through the Colorado Rockies– up and down, which we travel through just about every weekend.

BTW - I also have a CCD bench and 2 cushions left over if anyone is interested in acquiring them for their project… just shout me a note.

Well after 7 years with our beloved 2008 25' international six sleeper it was time for some more upgrades and changes to further tailor it to our needs. We went back and forth on buying a new 27' but just couldn't part ways with our 25'... so we "uplifted" the interior instead!

Full list of modifications below. Thanks to Timeless Travel Trailers here in Denver who did and outstanding job working with us to get things "just right". Our newly designed pull-out couch basically turns into a King bed now!
  • New corian counter tops
  • New bamboo hardwood flooring (solid tongue & grove hardwood - glued & stapled)
  • Replaced Bathroom faucet with new Moen fixture
  • Replaced Shower valve / fixture with new Moen Fixture
  • re-consttruced the pull-out couch to make it deeper / wider - eliminated storage bin behind couch and custom fabricated new backrest cushion(s) - retained pull-out bed capability
  • Modified storage nook on right of couch - added 2 nooks for shoes, iPads, etc..
  • New couch cushions in ultra leather
  • Add 2 additional go power 80w solar panels (480 watts total now on the roof) Also - Ran new 6ga wire from controller to battery bank to minimize voltage drop.
  • New custom curtains
  • re-mount existing sinks (sally / lav) - under-mount style, with corian sink cover to match in the galley.
  • Integrated (hardwire) Go-Power 1500 watt pure sine wave inverter hardware into 110v system (all 110 outlets in the airstream are powered by the inverter with the exception of the Fridge, Microwave and AC... Placed remote on/off switch by Solar controller tucked away in upper cabinet
  • Replaced exterior Rub rail insert due to discoloring- lower rub rail and upper belt line trim
  • Re-wire shower overhead light so that it works independent of the galley light (tapped 12v vent fan for non-switched 12v power)
  • Dropped in new group 27 batteries in existing battery box (had to grind off the threaded rod - tight but they fit!)
  • Replaced rear license plate holder as it was rusting
  • Added opaque glass window to bathroom door
  • Replaced old stove with new Dometic CU-434, integrate with cabinetry and counter top.
  • Sendel 16" wheels and Michelin LTX tires

From Airstream. Took some arm twisting This was from the Victorianox special edition 19' they built back in 2010 (or so).

If you'd like a copy of the full resolution jpg PM me. Fastsigns and the like can print and apply it for you.

Wulfraat that was a very nice upgrade Timeless Trailer did. It looks fantastic.

Question: for eating purposes, when you are eating indoors do the children (or 2 people) sit on the side without the backrest.

Yup - 2 sit on the bench and 2 on the seat without backrest. It's actually more comfortable without the backrest vs the bench - i.e. You are not forced to sit "jammed in" and completely upright... The ccd benches are not all that comfortable.

It also provides for a much better bed situation if you are 6' tall the bench bed is only good for kids ... Vs this setup which can accommodate an adult ( length and width wise).

Qx

Awesome rebuild, really like the flooring. I'd like to be able to do something like that one day!
That's cool you have a QX56 as your tow vehicle, we have a 2012 model also, but I have yet to latch on to the AS with it.
That 5.6 motor is a horse. Its good to hear that it pulls your AS with ease. I guess you manual shift to control engine speed?

I would have to re-adjust the equalizer for the QX from the truck setup settings. Maybe easier to find a used one and just adjust it to the QX maybe,
anyhoo,
You have a awesome trailer wulfratt!
have a good one

I like everything you did, but I really like your new curtains! I'm so bored with our white factory installed curtains, I would love to add some color to our Classic. We bought new red pillows for the sofa, but that just isn't enough.

I would love to know more about your curtains. Did you make them yourself? Can you provide more details?

Thanks, and again - good job!

Thanks for info.

That looks like an infloor storage cubby also. Going to take another look at the photos tonight on a larger format and maybe save a few

We have a blank slate 28 and always looking for good floor plans and layouts.
