I was looking at "older" Airstreams like Matthews McConnaghe <sp> new one and it looks like a mirror. My 2010 doesn't look half as Shiney. Why? Can it be made to look like that? Almost like a mirror. I bet the upkeep would be horrendous, or does a clear coat protect it?
The new ones also have a slightly different composition to the metal that makes them more difficult to polish. If 'twere me, I'd wait until the factory warranty runs out before stripping and polishing anyway.

It is probably possible, I sell AL to folks that polish it for high end boats.
Most folks do not polish below .090 thick, the skin is lighter than that.
Consider that it is going to cost you a thousand bucks just for the parts if you were to dent one of those exterior corner pieces, you gotta ask yourself is it worth it.
Also read somewhere that the old ones are ALCLAD, not the same material, so that is why they can polish them the way they do.
