Search and ye shall find

You maybe the only one posting, but if you take the time to figure out the member search function, you can find that there are no less then 24 registered 2010 International owners.

Shane, if you wait long enough, there will be tons of people with those trailers.

Might take twenty or thirty years, that's all

Welcome to the forum. You'll really love your AS. Have you taken possession yet? Post some pix when you do, expecially on your first trip out.

Hi Otters...

I am brand new here, as well. I have a deposit on an International 27fb Serenity...which interior did you choose? I am getting cold feet and may try an older, used model first. It's a lot of money for a new one

We purchased a 28' CCD in Feb of 09.
Not new of course, its a 2004, we never purchase new vehicles. We do not miss the heart sinking feeling you get the first time you realize your new baby isn't perfect or worse yet, you mar her for the first time. We also love the savings and are not afraid of a repair here or there.

It was a huge bonus in our search that the nicely depreciated models were the mid-century mod style as opposed to the current Signature metro-style. The mid-century models touched my nostalgic spirit. I grew up with Saarinen, Eames, other modern furniture, lots of black leather and a bright orange leather sofa, chair and ottoman set, so the early CCD was my preference. I was lucky to find an orange CCD in my home state. I know the orange doesn't appeal to everyone's taste but with my history it was a perfect fit.

There have been some changes over the years but when I walk into a newer Signature or Ocean Breeze CCD I can still feel the connection to mine. When I look at the sticker price the resemblance fades.

The lightly pre-loved vehicle way of life is not the route for everyone. You have to be willing to put up with the pesky wear and tear issues from the get-go, you must be willing to accept a blemish here and there and you can't expect to get all the options, bells and whistles or even the color of your choice. The search is also more involved but my husband lives for that stuff. But what you can get is a huge up front savings. But not always, some things hold their value and are a better value new. You have to do your research!

There does not seem to be many of our contemporaries on the road either. But most of our little problems and issues are shared by the late model Classics, Safaris and Flying Clouds anyway. But I love that the CCD interiors are a better match for the exterior style. (Jetsons on the outside, Jetsons on the inside)

Below you will see some images of pieces I grew up with as a child in the 60s. Our dinette cushions were blue and this chair was brown.

Well Technically, you have a 2009. Not a 2010. Your signature is wrong below your avatar and your signature line on. Unless I'm reading this wrong... what your saying is If someone buys a unused 2008 or 2009 model in the year 2010 then it classified as a 2010???

Your funny!!!

Shane, I guess you wanted to know if anyone else owned a 2010 International.

Looks like you got more than what you asked for. The newly released 2010 International Classic. Sounds like it's based on the 2009 chassis or 2010, not really sure which, and comes with a fully stocked wine cellar and 20 ' wheels. Ha, ha!

I purchased a "new" 2006 28' CCD in October 2009. It just sat on the lot in western Pennsylvania and was getting no love. About a month before we bought it, a representative from Airstream came out and advised the dealer to change the orange cushions to the blue. The Airstream representative thought the orange colors were a turn off to prospective buyers. Apparently, the conservative clientele in western Pennsylvania did not get the early CCD design style. We made them change the cushions back to the orange. Now we have the blue and orange cushions. I also like the mid century modern look of the early CCD's. Unfortunately for me, I did not grow up with Saarinen, Eames and others. I grew up with shag carpet and tri-levels in suburban Ohio.

At any rate, we were able to negotiate the price out of the stratosphere and I have no buyers remorse. I can't wait to get back on the road with my family. The new CCD's are beautiful as well but they come at a cost. I am just glad they are still making Airstreams and people continue to display passion for the product. I hope you enjoy your CCD as much as we do. Happy travels.
