Smile Where can I steal 12 volts?

Hi, I'm adding a couple of computer fans to the external locker behind my refrigerator. Can anyone suggest where on this block I can tap in and steal 12 volts? The wire will be attached to a thermal switch and then to the fans. I don't think they need to be hot all the time, just when the frig is on.

If you put your model # into the search at the link below, you should be able to download a PDF of the manual which will have the diagram for that board.

Hi

Simple answer is to find the +12 supply line into the fridge control board and splice into that. Unless you are running crazy fans, it should already be fused (and of sufficient gauge) to handle the current. (yes, check it, but you should be ok).

If you are running crazy large fans and the wire isn't big enough, you are stuck with pulling more wire into the space.

I put in the model number RM2652 and product number 921 14 40-04
but no results. It's installed in a 2000 Safari.

OK, so no luck with the schematic from the manufacturer. I put a black line over one of the 3 inputs I think carry the 12 volts into the board. Before I short something out, I'll hope and wait for someone to guide me. Right now I have the refer on auto to cool a little and have some power for when I dig in.

Hi

The owners manual for your trailer pretty strongly suggests that the feed wire should be pink.

Thanks that is a little challenging as red and pink are pretty close in my color wheel. The wire I marked is pink under a black sheath.

12 Volt power is the J4 connection; the red wire in your photo. You can trace the wire to the power terminal block. Source your power from the terminal block.

On my 2000 Safari the 12v wires supplying the fridge are red(+) and white (-).
Open the access door outside, look at the floor toward the left side (not the circuit board) to find a white plastic block with four screws. You can get power there.

That block is in a different position on the refrigerator shown in this video, but it looks exactly the same. Look at 2:40 on the timer.

Once again the forum has risen to the challenge. Thanks for all the help and advice. I have the power wire ready to hook up in the morning. I hope I can repay you all in the future.

Finished Product

Again thanks for the help. Here's a couple of shots of the finished product. The Thermostat Switch is from Senasys in WI 2511 Series Cose at 90 open at 80. It was placed in a free-flowing area with some plastic pipe hanging strap. I went to and from the main input block as was shown in a previous response. I did have a fused line left over from some other project and used is for just in case. At this time I'm not putting in a switch, there is a plastic coupling that is easy to access and I'll just disconnect. Since we're in NC I feel the fan will run a whole lot while just sitting in storage, no need to run it when the refer is not needed. Muchos Gracias
Oh in case your wondering, the neon line is my weed-eater line for clearing spiders and mud dobbers from the AC drain line. They can invade that drain line overnight.
