Use of inverter when powering AC with Generator

Hi
Specifics:
2019 25’ FC with 1 AC with Easy Start installed
Eu2200 Honda generator
Recently installed roof solar with Victron MultiPlus 3000, Victron Digital MultiControl, MPPT, BVM 712, new Lithium batteries, etc.

** my question is using the Honda generator to run the AC… with the new Victron electronics.

In our test today, using the generator and shore power, the Inverter had to be turned ON for AC and fan to work. Is this usual? Also, using the Digital multi control, do I set 15 or 30amp on the control display? The generator receptacle is 110v/15amp and my shore power today was at my barn 110. Can using the inverter harm the generator?

There is need for Inverter to be On for refrigerator also. I do not remember this with factory installed inverter/ converter.

Thank you very much,
Deb

Yes - you need the inverter to be turned 'on' for it to pass power through it from the shore power or generator. At least that's how the Multiplus was installed on my coach.

There are various ways to turn the inverter 'on' though, including charge only.

A great advantage to having it set up where the inverter is 'on' when using shore power is that you can take advantage of the power assist feature. For example, if you are using the generator you set the incoming power to the appropriate level (20 amps, or whatever your generator output is) and then the Multiplus will monitor use.

If you're running near the set limit and someone turns on a 120v appliance which puts you over the limit the Multiplus will step in and instantaneously supplement the generator with power from the batteries. This keeps the generator from going into overload and keeps things running seamlessly. Once the added load is shut off, the Multiplus will return the power to the batteries through the charge circuit.
