Upgrade Factory Solar Controller to Victron MPPT

2017 Flying Cloud 30FB - location of factory solar charge controller?

Reaching out to this awesome community for help locating the factory solar charge controller.

I believe I have the Sun Explorer 2 solar charge controller from the factory. I am upgrading to Battleborn Lithium Batteries and I don’t believe that the factory solar charge controller is compatible with lithium batteries. Therefore I am planning on replacing it with a Victron MPPT solar charge controllers. I think it should be a relatively easy swap but if anyone has done this and has any tips I would appreciate it. A good first step would be finding the original solar charge controller which I have not yet been able to do.

Sorry if this is a repeat post - I tried to do a search but wasn’t able to find an answer on my own. Thank you in advance for your help!

Will

Will, did you ever get the conversion to Victron Controller completed? I have the same controller (Sunexplorer) with three wire like the picture in this thread. The Victron requires the ground from the PV. Not sure were they grounded the PV.

Factory PWM

In my 2020 Caravel 20fb the factory solar controller was mounted to the back of the 12v distribution panel under the bed. It is so small you can easily miss it. While the PWM uses only the positive solar wire, the negative wire also ran into the DC panel so it was no problem to install the Victron MPPT nearby.
