Does anyone know what this is? It is on the front wall right of my battery box in my 1983 Excella

It's some sort of chime, doorbell? Or some type of warning chime.

Agree. Doorbell. Excella changed names and is now "Classic" the lux trim level. Only the top end model has a ding-dong.

Doorbell!

Yours is a bit different than mine. Are you missing the cover? Mine is "C"cell operated. Is yours hard wired 12V?

dznfOg thanks for the comment. Mine is hard wired and yes I believe the cover has escaped over the years. I forgot that was the bell we never use it. You folks jared my memory. I went out and pushed the doorbell on the way out today and I heard it click. I am replacing the battery and convertor is the only reason I found the thing.

dznfOz that might have a place for battery as well. I will look closer later. Picture gets fuzzy as you blow it up. It does look like it has battery nubs I call them.
