Turning on the lights

How do you go about turning on the outside lights of an AS? I bought a set of LED replacements for all the oval 2-bulb units that stud the outside of my parked trailer and want to see how they look!

Jump it

I have seen this done by dealers. They place a jumper wire into the trailer plug jumping the battery to the parking lights.

A heavy duty 2 prong flasher unit works great too....Disco Revisited You bridge the 12volt feed and the running light circuits

2nd the flasher!

Wahoo etal -

I 2nd the flasher idea. I fits perfect out of the package - not like a jumper wire that is contantly slipping out ( ask me how I know that one!).

In case of emergency the flasher can be insterted to the 7pin connector if you have to take the TV and run for parts or whatever. Make that AS visible to everyone.

I also ordered the LED marker light replacements. They will light up great with a 9 volt in the comfort of our living room. Guess how I know that?

Did the LED replacements all the way round SilverToy. 9 lights (at $8 a piece + nominal shipping) - 4 amber and 5 red, and boy does she look fine! Added a fine bead of vulkem around the sealed unit lights using a 20cc syringe ( the good water fight kind) and they seal up tight so it won't dry out or harden. The bead that you can run is about 1/16th inch. Looks real good. Of course added daubs at the wire entry point and at the screw holes as well. Should hold another 13 years or better.

Just FYI to anyone replacing theirs. Check the plastic housings. The ones I took off were so brittle. In fact 2 had cracked above and below (hard to see unless you look!) and in fact needed to be replaced regardless of LED or not. Several had what looked to be years worth of cr*p in them along the bottom.

Still looking for the right solution to the 1156/ 1157 bulb for the brake/ backup lights.

since I won a drawing at Florida State I had Airstream put in new LED taillights for me. It wasn't $150 more like just over $200 but they look good and really light up the road.

So THAT's how they make the trailer lights flash at the RV shows! I was kinda wondering about that.

lights on demand!

hello,i recommend using a 15amp(blue)"blade"fuse.bend tabs on fuse slightly, and it will plug in(my battery and parking lamp terminals are at top beside each other)the fuse is the SAFE way.....if you have any shorts after repairs, you wont do any futher damage....
