Tire Blowout, wires wrapped around axle... Rewiring it all

Just had a blowout which is turning into a nightmare. Wheel well got damaged bad, some plumbing cracked but worst (in my opinion) bunch of wires got caught in the axle. Is this something I try to do myself or better to take it in to airstream? I'm just afraid of how much this will cost.

Anyone else been in this situation and willing to offer some advice on where to start or what to do? We just bought the airstream 3 months ago and have been traveling down the california coast. Currently in the LA area.

That looks like a repair for a professional. Do you have insurance?

Before you do much more, check the tire age and replace the other tire if they are older than 5 years. Check the tire pressure. Were they low? If so replace the other tire as it may be damaged also. Were the tires low on pressure when you bought it? Replace if so. Did you drive faster than 65 mph? Replace.

If you are very handy and want to avoid an insurance claim, you can repair that but it will take some time. Otherwise find a trusted shop. The local Airstream dealer may not be a good choice. Repairs seem to be hit and miss according to reports. I also had poor experience working with them on a warrantee repair when I was visiting the family ( I grew up there). They failed, I ended up fixing it myself.
