Surge Protector

i have never used a surge device in my years of RV'ing. lucky? anyway, question is:
Airstream is set up for 50 amp service. will a 50 amp device handle both 30 and 50?

Photos: this is in my front yard. At a park, I will plug the adaptor directly into the outlet...not a cord.

50 or 30? You are talking about plugging a 50A protector intro a 30 to 50 A dogbone? I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t work. Low voltage and spikes are independent of the current. That’s what the protection is for.

best to buy a unit to be installed inside.

that way, nothing to forget, lose or trip over

it will protect you 100% of the time.

ours has saved our AS about 5 times in the last 4 years.
low voltage, high voltage, under current and power spokes

Hi

I'm not convinced a surge protector is worth the hassle. An EMS *is* most certainly worth messing with.

What's the difference?

The surge protector takes care of spikes and that's it.

The EMS disconnects the trailer from a wide range of faults. There are a *lot* more issues that it covers.

The Camco does a good job protecting:

Features:
Voltage protector protects your RV from excessive voltage and power surges
Automatically disconnects when dangerous voltage levels are detected
Reconnects when voltage levels stabilize (between 102V-132V)
Female end connects to your RV's 50-amp power plug
Male end plugs into a 50-amp receptacle
Built-in handles on each end make unplugging the cord effortless
Water-resistant unit protects electrical components
Multilevel surge protection works together with diagnostic lights to visually alert users to faults
Reconnect relay protects sensitive equipment, like air conditioner units, by not rapidly cycling power
1-Year warranty
