Yes and welcome to the forum Diverjean . I have a 1999 30' with 30 amp service same as you. Amazon has them for 250.00 delivered to your door. Bob knows what he's writing about.

I do not believe they are a wise purchase, for reasons I have written about previously. Search my old posts if interested in the details.

I do use a surge protector. Then again I use a surge protector for my office network and my home computers. Those electronic circuit boards for the refrigerator, furnace, water heater, etc. are quite expensive to replace and RV park electricity is not always the best. The Surge Guard products also have low voltage protection which can save an air conditioner and incorrect pedestal wiring that can save your life. The following is a link to the Surge Guard line:

When we get our 34' I will install a Progressive Industries surge protector if one isn't already installed. I have this http://www.amazon.com/Progressive-In.../dp/B0009SQQ1A from our old mpg, which will work well enough until I can get the coach switched to 50A service and hard-wire the proper PI unit in place.
