We remove our batteries and store them in a semi-heated garage during winter hibernation. AGM and flooded batteries are stored fully charged and topped off every couple of months. The camper's lithium battery is discharged to 60% prior to storage and not fully charged until it is re-installed in April or May.

It's my understanding that unnecessary cycling of lithium batteries can shorten their life span. Also, the lithium battery's minimum charging temperature is listed as 32deg F.

If you plan to store in sub-freezing temps, purchase a lithium battery with low temp charge protection. It has pretty much become a standard feature. They do not cost that much more. As pointed out, you can protect your lithium batteries from charging below freezing with solar by setting a temp charge cut-off point with some solar controllers. I am not sure about onboard converter/inverter chargers....
BattleBorn has a heated battery which you pay a premium for and uses battery power to keep warm. Other considerations is a well insulated battery box and 12v heat pad.

Hi

Just to clarify a bit:

The heated batteries should only be heated when charging. Otherwise the heaters should be turned off. They will use a lot of battery power if you just let them run for a day or three.

Thanks
