solar panel question

Hi! I just recently purchased a 1975 Sovereign that is permanently placed on some land I own in Southwest Virginia. This is my weekend getaway spot. I almost always stay there on Friday nights and most of the day Saturday, and occasionally Saturday night also. I would like to get away from having to run a generator just to charge the batteries so that I can have a little light at night and a cup of coffee in the morning. It is so peaceful there, and the generator kind of ruins that!! I was thinking of going solar. I just can't quite figure out exactly what I'll need. Since I'm only there on weekends, the solar panels would have all week to recharge the batteries between visits. Any idea what size solar system I might need?? Please let me know if I'm thinking about this all wrong!!

Probably the perfect situation for solar. Can you make it all weekend while running your batts to 50% state of charge (12.1v)? If so, you won't need more than 50 watts, and that's generous. So a panel, a quality mppt controller. Appropriately sized wire for your run. And bits and pieces to mount everything. Oh, a bit of knowhow, which you can get here, if need be.

An in between and less expensive choice would be to replace your incandescent bulbs with LEDs which use fraction of the electricity incandescent bulbs do. You can also put in a Humphrey propane light.
