solar panel placement

I am impressed with the knowledge out there on all things Airstream. I have been following along on the build of my "68 Globetrotter.
I am adding solar power and looking for available space for panels. Is there a reason why solar panels are not used for awnings over windows, front, back and street side? Down and secured when traveling and up when parked.
Would the reflection mess with the panel? Heat buildup?
Just thinking, which gets me more confused.
Thank you

Google "Black Pearl" sailing yacht. 300+ feet long with over 30k sq ft of sail. The sails are photovoltaic.

They are coming. I'd bet we'll see them in the 5ish year timeframe assuming the tech holds up and pricing commodotizes ...

Welcome Aboard👍

We use 360w of Zamp portable.

If we still had the "Frantic Banana", our 22' Safari, I would also use portable.

It has been done before. I’ve seen a YouTube video of an installation of a solar panel over the rear window that swung into position when camping and folded down for travel.

I am sure you would find that a (few?) portable panel(s) wood be more practical, efficient, and convenient.

I still like my arrangement of 3 100w Renogy panels on the cap of my truck augmented by a portable 100w renogy suitcase for camping up in the Pacific NW and its variable sun availability due to trees.
The 25 ft umbilical allows me to place the thruck and the suitcase in the sun while the trailer remains in the shade.
