Shore Power Cable Reel

I was given the spring-wind shore power cable reel from an older Excella. I was getting tired of having to bend over to coil up the cable on the fixed reel in the low storage compartment on my 2002 Classic 30.

I'm thinking of mounting it in the storage compartment above the current reel and modifying the existing cable area to hold some of the sewer stuff I have in the storage compartment (that can't be hurt if it gets damp from the poorly sealed cable compartment).

Anyone know a reason why I shouldn't do this? Should I open up the slip ring area to check condition?

Thanks,

Al
