Rewiring a 1973 31 ft. International

Present set-up has 30 amp feed, with 2 30 amp circuit breakers. Neutral wire fried!?
Planning on a complete redo at 50 amps, plus more circuits.
My question: is my problem and solution typical, or would 50 amps restrict camp ground sites?
Thanks in advance.

Welll, depends on where you camp We do a lot of state park camping and the ones around here have not upgraded to 50 amp service. I suppose you could always carry a 30-50 amp adapter. Why do you need the 50 amp? Or is it just an upgrade. FWIW this summer while we were on the road I would say only about 70% of the commercial campgrounds we stayed in had 50 amp service readily available. We saw a couple of the big boys nearly come to blows over the last 50 amp site at one campground we were staying in.

I would stick with the 30 amp setup. The 50 amp plugs are sometimes hard to come by, and unless you are going to run 2 roof ac units there is no real need.

Note: some campgrounds charge more for a 50 AMP vs a 30 AMP.

Also unless you wire it to the RVIA standard the 50 amp feed could blow a pole based GFCI and have no power at all. Much simpler to just rewire it as it is and go from there. Not to mention the time saved!
