Replacement AGM batteries suggestions

I am in need of replacement AGM batteries for my 2019 GT.
The batteries simply won’t hold a sustained charge. I believe I’m responsible for this by draining them too far too many times.
The prices at the Airstream Dealers seem on the high side. Does anyone have any reasonable solutions for a pair of new ones? Amazon? Which brand? They are GPL 24-T. 80 amp hours. Thanks for any suggestions or experiences.

AGMs

You might consider Fullriver 220ah 6 volt AGMs and put in series. @ 70lbs each and should fit your battery box As shorter than Lifelines. Randy at Best Converter and others should have them. Good warranty, pricey but good.

Go with the one that has the best track record....Ours lasted 11 Seasons before our Lithium up-grade.👍
They are still on duty in the basement as B/U power for the sump pump.

I would at least price a lithium upgrade for the batteries and converter. Now might just be the time.

If they are from the factory solar package they might be under warranty.

Over the years, I have bought four of these, for my trailer as well as for my boat, and all of them just keep chugging along, no problems.

Lifeline 6v in series. Best in the world. Contact 'AM Solar' in Oregon. They are THE experts in RV solar, period.

Hi

You pay a (steep) premium for AGM batteries over (high quality) flooded cells. You pay an even bigger premium over "run of the mill" deep discharge flooded cells. The delta (on a usable capacity basis) going from AGM to Lithium is getting ever smaller. The key there is that (roughly speaking) 200AH of AGM is comparable to 100AH of Lithium.

There are gotchas and issues with each and every battery type you could pick. Do your homework . None of them are going to like being run completely flat. Lithiums, by virtue of their built in BMS will take the abuse best. Far better to invest in a proper (shunt based) battery monitor so that you *know* when to stop using the batteries.

you might consider adding a Victron BatteryProtect, such as Victron BatteryProtect (Smart 12/24V-65A), which allows you to automatically disconnect your battery before the voltage gets down to where it can damage the batteries. The "Smart" version allows you to set precisely what voltage you want the battery to disconnect at, and at what voltage you want it to reset or reconnect at.

Call Best Convertors in Enterprise AL. I just purchased 2 AGM batteries when I was in AL. Phone 334 406 0653. They have a website also. Service was great and price was right.

I'm adding a Victron BatteryProtect to an older Airstream that I'm giving to one of my daughters. I just put in a new AGM battery and she is not yet "trailer smart", so this is how I chose to "save" the battery.

I’ve had the best luck with O’Rielly’s house brand.

They should have lasted much longer. Price battle born or Renogy lithium. One 100ah may be all you need. Both have battery management system s to protect the battery.

ctimberlake, as dst mentioned in an earlier post, your 2019 GT is covered by a 3 year warranty. Plus, I’ve heard good things about LifeLine’s product support.

You can always contact them directly and explain your situation. They’ll steer you straight on how to get them diagnosed and replaced with no cost to you.

https://lifelinebatteries.com/knowle...ter/resources/

We’ve got the same batteries in our GT and while I’d love to have a set of Battle Borns, these are much better than the flooded lead acid batteries we had in our Flying Cloud.

Let us know how you do!

This is the direction I’m going, but my Interstates are still hanging in there. Also adding 200 amp suitcase solar. Spending the next 10 days boondocking in WY. Solar suitcase didn’t arrive in time before departure. Will get out the Honda 2000 when needed.

If you have Lifelione batteries, you might find this thread useful: https://www.airforums.com/forums/f44...-202020-2.html

I'm happy with their service and the cost of replacing our AGM batteries.

(2) Lifeline 6 Volt in series. My first set lasted me 8 years. I want to go to lithium but the battery cost and upgrade of my solar charger and inverter are still prohibitive. If you stick with AGM make sure that you have a "smart" inverter (at least 3 stage) that understands AGM batteries. Randy at best converter is a good contact. With 400 watts of solar and 220v of AGM battery plus a rarely used Westinghouse 2500 genny, water acquisition and draining is the limiting factor on our boondocking.

Specific to that thread, I posted:
Our Lifeline AGM's started going bad in July this year, which came with our 2018 Globetrotter purchased in January 2018. Our dealer and Jackson Center both said that batteries aren't covered by warranty. They also didn't know about any manufacturer warranty.

So I called Lifeline last Monday and discovered that the batteries were actually 34 months old, and that the batteries have a 60 month prorated warranty. The support person honored our January 2018 purchase date - last Wednesday two brand new AGM's arrived for $225. I'm obviously very happy!

Hope this helps someone... Duncan
If you have LifeLine batteries, you might want to check with LifeLine to see what it would cost to replace them.
