Replacement 120v outlets or Home Depot?

Hey all,

A couple of the wall plates that house the twin 120v outlets are loose. I notice they are a special kind of outlet where the screws are located on the diagonal and internally they twist a tab that locks them into the gangbox. Well, the tabs on mine are broken. Should I source the original replacements or should I just go to home depot and replace the gang boxes, outlets and cover plates with modern home style ones? Not sure about the wall clearance behind...is it sufficient for home style outlets?

thanks,

dalefox,

Sufficient clearance if you buy the shallow depth boxes, not the regular depth ones.

Dale, we've been trying to get one of those outlet boxes for several weeks now, and the usual suppliers are out of them. It would be a good idea to get a replacement in your hands before you pull the old one out.
