Refrigerator Door

Opened Ref. door and Freezer door fell open. I guess the spring is broken; but how do you get the door off to replace the spring? It's a 1973 Airstream with a Dometic RM66 Refrigerator; with the new technology maybe it's time to replace. Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you all!

My freezer door spring on one side is broken, door stays open. On mine I can see there is a small clip on each side, I think the spring is inside there. For the time being I've used a small piece of Velcro on the door and matching piece on the side. It seems to hold it closed so it doesn't flop open when the fridge door is opened. The freezer door is easy to open and close, I guess I got it matched up pretty good to work that way. It's on my honey-do list.

I see a replacement in the PDF for my model Dometic fridge. Did you check their website for a parts list?

Ref. Door

Thanks Rich,

I'll try Dometic. But I think your fix is the best until our old unit finally gives up the ghost. I really can't complain much about a 40 plus year old unit.

Thank you again
