Random wire

Does anyone know what the wire coming out of the wall by the window is for?

We have an '85 excella with a center bath

Well first let's determine if it is 12v or 115v. See if there is any voltage there with your multimeter.

Next, take a look at the 85 Excella center bath floor plan on Airstream.com. Try to determine what might have been installed over the water heater.
My 86 has numerous 12v "devices" like reading lights, under cabinet lights, thermostats, and the like. These are 12v wires penetrating the interior skins.

Other Excella owners may chime in and know exactly what it is based on your photo.

A close up would help.

Might be speaker wires

Here's a close up. Tried using a multi meter but won't work as I need two wires? We tried it against ground and it pulled 10.5 D.C.

It's not a speaker wire as we have speakers installed and wired up already.

Probably a power feed for the bathroom lights, or 12 volt receptacle (cigarette lighter).

What ever it was not it does not look factory. The way the wire feeds through the aluminum inner skin is scary.

There is a wiring diagram in the manual for your trailer. This is a link to it, where you can download a copy.

The purple wire is circuit #1. Looks like it powers fan, lights, or 12v outlets.

ps: to check it with a multi meter use the metal wall or some other metal part as ground.

Can't wait to get over there and see your trailer!!!! I thought we were buying new enough to not need a pile of work.... learning that wasn't the case! But that's part of the ride I guess. I'm going to camping world in Katy tomorrow. Text me if there's something down there you need!!!

Here's an update. The Atwood switch in the bathroom wasn't attached with rivets or screws.

The wires look like they go toward the front of the trailer not back to the heater. When I flip the switch the light doesn't come on. Could be a bad bulb or no power.
